Type Locality and Naming

Along the Ergashkuduk depression, Eastern Kyzylkumy. B.I. Pinhasov, 1978 (144, p. 36). Stratotype section of well 3 in the eastern part of the Ergashkuduk depression (145). Initially attributed to the Apscheron.

Synonym: Ergashkuduk Suite, Ергашкудукская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Alluvial gray polymictic sands of paleo-Syrdarya, subordinate clays and siltstone (aleurolites). Thickness up to 150-180 m.


Lithology Pattern: 
Coarse-grained sandstone


Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Interbedded with the Dengizkul Fm

Upper contact

Overlain by aeolian sands.

Regional extent

Eastern Kyzylkumy, Syrdarya depression, Nurata district. corresponding to the upper part of the Arnasay Fm of the Hungry Steppe.

Contains ostracods - Ilyocypris bradyi Sars., I. Gibba (Ramdohr.), Cyclocyprus laevis (O. Müller), Candona aff. neglecta Sars., Cypris phisematosa Kondrasch., Condoniella albicans Br.

In 1985, B.I. Pinhasov (145) refined the age, and the suite was assigned to the upper Akchagyl-Apscheron (upper Pliocene-Eopleistocene)
